Apologies to Savannah and Paddy for taking so long in answering back.

Ignorance is a big problem and the myopia that comes with it. If you asked me what to do, I'd suggest geography classes so that Americans would at least know where such and such a country is what kind of people live there. There's a saying in Spain: You can't love something you don't know.

Paddy, I agree with you 100%. The big paradox about the US is that it WANTS to be a nice country with high values but the problem is that it must pillage and bully other countries to maintain its high standard of living.

The foreign policy in many respects, and that of what you speak about the USA is despicably loathsome.
The whole country puts me in mind of a spoilt child who is also a bully, and will stop at nothing to keep what he thinks is rightfully his God given right.
However, Rome had its day- the bigger you are the harder you fall.
Waiting Paddy.

therein lies the crux of the problem - ignorance. most americans care only that the trash is picked up and the potholes in the streets get fixed. very few have looked at our foreign policy, our actions and inactions domestically and internationally. it really is only recently that we've begun (as a whole) look at what the government is doing in our name. sadly, i can only shake my head and say, i told you so.
